đź«€ The Anatomy of My Desk
A minimalistic desk setup
Hey friends!
Welcome to another edition of The Report. This week’s newsletter is especially exciting! In this edition, I’m going to talk about my minimal desk setup with an illustrated version that demonstrates how I’ve set it all up.
Let’s start with the desk itself. I’m not entirely sure where I got this desk from but it’s been with me for about 5 years now. It’s a simple wooden desk with two drawers at the front, a cable box at the back and a magazine stand inbuilt. The desk sits on a white metal stand and the wood on the desk is a very light wood. Overall, the desk has a minimalistic design that complements my room well.
On the far left corner of my desk, just above my cable box, I have a rose-gold copper lamp with a circular white marble slab that holds the stem of my lamp. I love the pinky glow I get from this during my heavy focus sessions. On the marble anchor itself, I have a tiny green plant along with a wooden sharpener I don’t use (but it has an engraved cow on it which makes me happy).
Now into the magazine stand on the right side, which I don’t use for magazines at all but for all my knickknacks. I have a slight obsession with stationery, so I house my numerous pens and highlighters and markers in this part. I store them in multiple mugs (yes, mugs, not pen stands) that were gifted to me from friends and family. I also have some books in this little nook, including Rachel Scythe’s Lore Olympus (highly recommended graphic novel if you like Greek Mythology and fantasy).
I typically just have either my Rose Gold MacBook Air from 2019 or my 2020 iPad Pro on the desk itself, which are my main go-to devices for getting anything done. I pair my MacBook up with a laptop stand to avoid harming my posture and this has actually been a game changer for me. If I’m using my iPad, I pair this up with my Logitech Combo which is so much better than a Magic Keyboard (for me at least) because I can just remove the keyboard if I don’t need to use it.
And finally, to tie it all together, I have a sea blue cushion chair that is perfect for snuggling up in, especially during the winters or during long work sessions. I’ve been using it for nearly two years now and I haven’t had any complaints with it at all.
